DOG TRAINING

Dogs are dogs. Sounds obvious, but nowadays they are truly considered members of the family, and as such the expectation on them to slot nicely into our people lives has increased and this can take work, because … dogs are dogs! Some were bred to work, some to protect, some for hunt, some for companionship and it’s important that we acknowledge this - every breed, and to that end, every individual dog is different, but all are trainable, you just need to speak their language.

Whether you want to learn the right way to raise a well-mannered puppy, help them to be great with kids (and vice versa!), how to sit nicely at a café while you catch up over a coffee or perhaps you’re just looking for ways to manage your dogs energy or address any problem behaviours, Woof Mate has got the know-how and a training package to suit you.

Preparing for Puppy Package - $220

This package comprises of 2 x 1 hr sessions. The first takes place before you bring puppy home and we will run through everything you need to know to make sure you're ready and know what to expect - what’s normal and what is not! Puppy behaviours such as chewing and jumping , toilet + crate training, socialising + exposure, nutrition, enrichment and making sure every member of the family is on board. The second session would be a follow up a few weeks later to see how everything is going, answer any questions and solve any problems. We will also be able to run through the basic, but all important, commands including sit, stay, down and re-call.

• On-going telephone support for first year after initial session

In-Home Puppy School - $400

Everything a puppy could need to know to become the goodest boy or girl! And more importantly, everything you as the owner need to know to train your pups and continue with the good work as they grow. The option to complete the course over
2 x 2 hr sessions or 4 x 1 hr sessions. Perfect for first time puppy owners.

• Suitable for puppies aged 8-18 weeks

• On-going telephone support for first year after initial session

• Extra hour sessions available at discount rate of $80/hr

• Covering Sit, Stay, Down, Recall, Lead Walking, Place Training

Puppy School Basics - $240

As above but a shorter 2 x 1 hour session at your home. Better suited for those who may have owned dogs and puppies before but need a refresher and an experienced hand to renew their confidence.

Dog Training - from $180

This one is for the older pups and adult dogs - those who may have only just found their furever homes, need a refresher or just missed out on puppy school. For a basic training refresher we can offer a simple one-off session but should there be a more specific behavioural issue you’d like to work on we can add on additional sessions as required.

• 2 x 1 hr sessions offered at $250 if booked together

• Suitable for all dogs aged 18 weeks and older

Puppy School + Life Skills - $440

This package gives you 4 hrs of Woof Mate time with you and your puppy, split into
1 x 2 hr in-home puppy school with an additional 2 x 1 hour exposure sessions to help your pup gain confidence in the big wide world! We can discuss the hopes and expectations you have for your puppy accompanying your family day-to-day:
perhaps to markets, cafés, school pick-up, Bunnings or maybe they’ll be real adventure pups coming with you on bike rides, day trips to beaches, camping! Your pups don’t come pre-programmed to deal with all of these things but they do come with lovely, open minds such that we can help them become confident and comfortable in these environments. We won’t overload them to begin with, just sit, watch, listen and sniff, taking it at the pups own pace and start building positive associations with these activities and giving you the tools to continue their training.

Zoom Training Consultations - from $50

Do you just have a few burning questions to ask about your new puppy but don’t need the full Puppy School package? Maybe you think you know what you’re doing but you just want to make sure before you commit! We can answer it all over Zoom! Anything from nutrition, crate training, toilet training, commands, chewing, jumping, Woof Mate is here for it!

• Standard Zoom call is for 30 minutes. Additional time charged at
  $1/minute

• As much as I would love to see your dogs on camera, appearing via video is not compulsory, we can just do an audio call!

• Discounted in-home visits available should we decide additional help is needed.

• Suitable for puppies and dogs of all ages.

Preparing Your Dog for Baby - $280

Congratulations! You’re having a baby! It’s such an exciting and overwhelming time and between going to appointments and getting the nursery ready, it’s easy to forget that life is about to change dramatically for your dog too! As far as your dog is concerned babies are a totally different species from us adults - they come with a brand new selection of sights, sounds and smells for your dog which will require gentle and gradual exposure and some new boundaries may need to be put in place to keep everyone safe and happy. This training package includes an initial assessment of requirements over the phone, followed by a 1 x 2hr session where I can answer any specific queries and spend time training the skills that you want your dog to learn before baby arrives. Things we might go through include: how to introduce dog to baby, sleeping arrangements, desensitisation to baby noises and new items in the home (pram, rocker, cot etc), crate training, lead walking with the pram, commands such as leave, down, back, gentle and place training.
